Rules
- Piles cannot be larger than 4’x4’x4′
- Burn only in calm weather
- No burning when wind speeds are over 10 mph
- Must be constantly maintained by an adult
- Do not leave fire unattended
- Must have a means of extinguishment
- Must be minimum of 25′ from any structure (including utilities)
- Must be minimum of 25′ from a property line
- Do not burn under a canopy of trees
- Completely extinguish your fire by dark
- Call 911 if it starts to get out of control
Additional Information
- You do not need a burn permit for fires in a burn barrel or campfires in a fire pit.
- No burn permits will be issued during a DNR, State, or Township burn ban
- You do not need a burn permit if there is at least 1″ of snow on the ground
- To receive a permit, please fill out the following questions and hit submit. Please keep a copy of the permit with you while burning.
Restrictions
The following items can never be burned due to air quality regulations:
- Demolition debris
- Construction materials
- Automotive parts
- Household trash that contains plastic, rubber, foam, chemically treated wood, textiles, electronics, chemicals or hazardous materials
**You are responsible for any costs associated with damage, negligence or extinguishment due to a fire that has gotten out of control, or that must be extinguished due to violations of Township ordinances!
