Fire and Ambulance
Thornapple Township provides fire-rescue and ambulance (advanced life support) transport response for residents of Thornapple Township through a voted fire millage and service fees. In addition, a portion of Irving Township contracts with Thornapple Township for fire-rescue services.
The Emergency Services Department Building was completed in 2004 and is located at 128 High Street in downtown Middleville. The building includes the apparatus bay, living quarters and office/administration space, including a state of the art training room. In addition, the department owns an offsite training facility for flashover training, which was obtained through a grant from the federal government.
The department includes full time employees and paid on call staff. To contact the Emergency Services, call 269-795-3350 or e-mail Chief Randy Eaton.
Thornapple Ambulance Partnership Program (TAPP)
Thornapple Township offers an annual membership program to protect you and every member of your household against any additional “out of pocket” ambulance costs. TAPP membership covers the amount you owe when Medicare or insurance doesn’t pay the full amount of the fees.
Police services are provided by the Barry County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police. The Village of Middleville contracts with the Barry County Sheriff’s Department for additional staff in the Village of Middleville (contact 269-795-9862 for non-emergency questions).
